Rights of Nature

Creating protective rights for rivers and nature is a primary focus for E.A.R.T.H and its Natures Rights Program. The environmental laws are no longer working, and attempting to make a government system that protects the environment, when the regulatory bodies side with industry, has proven to be a failure.

What is Rights of Nature? Rights of Nature is the recognition and honoring that Nature has rights. It is the recognition that our ecosystems – including trees, oceans, animals, mountains – have rights just as human beings have rights.

If Rights of Nature was law? According to GARN:”Under the current system of law in almost every country, nature is considered to be property, a treatment which confers upon the property owner the right to destroy ecosystems and nature on that property. When we talk about the “rights of nature,” it means recognizing that ecosystems and natural communities are not merely property that can be owned, but are entities that have an independent right to exist and flourish. Laws recognizing the rights of nature thus change the status of natural communities and ecosystems to being recognized as rights-bearing entities with rights that can be enforced by people, governments, and communities.”

Phase 3

E.A.R.T.H Natures Rights Program (NRP) moves across the Rocky mountain range with the Rio Grand Water Walk. Festivals along the way and numerous local events will mark the NRP progress and promote its message of world peace, disarmament, and protecting earths inherent rights. We plan on starting with no end until every river and body of water is seen in the court of law as a equal to corporations.
